Little Bits of Random 3

In celebration of the weekend, I present Little Bits of Random 3.

We’ve been getting outside as much as possible lately to soak up the last of the warm temps and the stunning colors.

Fall colors are in bloom all over the city now.

Dusk on the river.

One very happy puppy after a long ball throwing session.

Guy loving up on Michael.

Family meeting.

Eli on his third run of the week in Jamaica Plains.

Sunset looking west off the Mass Ave bridge.

Skyline at dusk.

Have a lovely weekend.

Little Bits of Random 2 and a Pumpkin Banana Smoothie

This post was just titled Pumpkin Banana Smoothie but then Eli ate half my breakfast and the picture below is so priceless that I decided to do a little bits of random post dedicated to the pets.

I’m sorry I ate your bagel but you left it unattended lady. If I give you this look you’ll forgive me in 3 seconds right?

Me and Eli getting ready for a run.

Kitties need chapstick too.

And puppies need kisses.

Apparently this is what morning looks like in our bed.

And how Guy looks when held against his will.

Best friends!

And for those of you who want the pumpkin banana smoothie recipe here it is, super simple.

Pumpkin Banana Smoothie

1 frozen banana

1/2 cup pumpkin puree

3/4 cup almond milk

3-4 ice cubes

1 teaspoon ginger powder

1 teaspoon cinnamon

dash of vanilla extract

1 tablespoon maple syrup

Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

Little Bits of Random

I’ve never been one to take a ton of photos but since starting this blog I realize that that’s what most people want to look at so I should probably get my butt in gear and start taking more pictures.

This all seems like a great idea, but then you end up with 100s of random pictures that don’t fit into a specific blog post. So everyone once in a while I’m just going to post random photos that have no correlation whatsoever.  Hope you don’t mind.

I present you with Little Bits of Random 1!

There’s a cat that lives at the corner store down the street.  Most of the time he’s by the door to greet you when you come in.  The other day we walked in and didn’t see him until he was spotted curled up in a box of candy on the counter.

Eli on a walk.

Morning wake up call.

Guy reading his Kindle. He was reading Before I Go To Sleep which is a weird but really interesting book.

Rainy day farmers market. So many sunflowers.

More fall foliage on my walk to yoga.

Lunch at Life Alive. I had their warrior bowl with red lentil hummus (must re-create soon), tofu, veggies and miso dressing.

Michael had the quinoa, brown rice, kale, avocado bowl with nutritional yeast and some kind of dressing that I can’t remember.

Carrot, fennel, ginger, lemon juice. If you haven’t tried fennel in your juice you should, it gives it a spicy flavor that goes really well with the ginger.

Last night’s pesto put to good use. Gluten-free pasta with pesto, steamed veggies and chickpeas.

Off for a run in the foggy, drizzly weather. Only 5 days until the Tuft’s 10k.

Have a great Wednesday.

Moving, Moving, Moving

Thursday was moving day.  As were Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  How can two people, one dog and a cat have so much stuff?  Granted our place in SF was bigger than our apartment in Boston but still.

We spent most of the weekend just trying to maneuver around the boxes.  This is the guest bedroom, cozy and inviting right?  West coast friends, it’s waiting for you!

Master bedroom.  Love the windows and the light in this room.

Living room.

The space is a bit odd.  Michael and I spent all of Saturday moving couches and rugs trying to configure the furniture.  I think we found a solution but had to get rid of a ton of stuff to make it work.  Thank goodness for Craigslist and living in a town full of needy college students.

Here’s a work in progress.

Not very impressive for a weekend’s worth of work.  Better pictures to come tomorrow, hopefully.

In the meantime, these two were less than impressed with all the chaos in their little worlds.  Guy spent most of the weekend under the bed or in the back of the closet.

And Eli took his rightful place on the bed as soon as it was made.

Time for more organizing and navigating the T for the first time.  Apparently it should only take me 20 minutes to get to the yoga studio, we’ll see, I’m giving myself an hour.

And lastly, my Papa would have been 59 today.  Happiest of birthdays to the greatest dad who ever was.  Tonight, I celebrate his life by spending some extra time in the kitchen.
