Welcome to my blog! I’m Lisa Horvath. I recently moved from lovely San Francisco across the country to Boston with my boyfriend Michael, puppy Eli and cat Guy. I quit my corporate job in advertising to see what happens when you aren’t working 12-hour days but instead follow your passions of cooking and teaching yoga.
I am fortunate to have learned the pleasures of being in the kitchen from a long line of enthusiastic Hungarian chefs. From my grandparents who taught me how to roll langosch on the kitchen table and make homemade french fries, to my Papa who left a legacy of deep rooted love for feeding others and feeling most at home in the comforts of a kitchen (it didn’t actually matter if it was his).
Quinoa and Kale:
In 2009, my food journey deviated a little from my Hungarian family when I became a vegetarian and fell in love with kale. Through the wonders of blogs and the skills acquired in my own little kitchen, I learned how to cook flavorful, healthy meals that didn’t require meat. In 2010, I met Michael, who has celiac disease. In an attempt to cater to both our diets, I learned all I could about the world of gluten free foods, and discovered my beloved quinoa. My hope is to share my knowledge of vegetarian and gluten free meals with you here.
My infatuation with healthy eating goes hand in hand with my devotion to fitness. I’ve played sports and run since high school but during college I felt like something was missing. It was at this time that I was introduced to yoga. Last summer, after almost 10 years of practice I decided to become a certified yoga instructor and completed my 200-hour teacher training. I love the practice and hope to share some musings and deep exhales with you here as I navigate the teaching world in a new city.
I have been blessed with an amazing family and incredible friends, many of whom are scattered throughout the country. So in addition to recipes and yoga, I plan to ramble a little about my daily life, in hopes that this blog helps bridge the distance between us and give both them and you a glimpse into my life and adventures in a new city.
